The personal journey of my practice has led to the rediscovery and healing of self, rooted in reconnecting with my inner child. A child who was once unburdened, playful and untouched by the weighing expectations of the world around her. I returned to this forgotten self, not to reclaim lost innocence, but to heal what the fabrics of time have frayed...
In April 2025 to June 2025, my series of work “The Anatomy of Fragility” was exhibited at the KAYA Café. This was the first time my work had been exhibited in a space outside of university, it truly felt like an opening to so many more opportunities and experiences. The KAYA Café is a beautiful space for many different artists and creative to exist in a space of community and expression. For the first time seeing my work up in a public space outside of the circles of university; for others to witness and appreciate was a beautiful feeling.
At the beginning of 2025 I made the decision to put myself and my work out in the world in as many ways as possible, taking all and any opportunity. So, in June 2025 I entered the SASOL New Signatures Art Competition as a way of doing this. I was extremely proud and happy when I heard that my work had been selected as one of the finalist artworks and was to be exhibited at the Pretoria Art Museum from 4 September to 2 November 2025.
Flying across the country to see my work up in a museum of art, just a room away form artists that I studied in high school was truly a surreal experience. Connecting with incredible people and community was a wonderful experience.
My work “White Noise of Endurance” is now showing at the Pretoria Art Museum till 2 November 2025!
